Setting The Pipes For A Wall
Mount Faucet
By Jesse Whitehead
Setting the pipes for wall mount faucets
is a bit more technical than for a standard type of faucet. But the extra work will pay off in the
added beauty that this type of fixture will give your new bathroom.
If you are fixing
up the bathroom or building a new one in a new house, you have several choices as to what kind of faucet you could
use. If you would like to give the bathroom a very modern look, you may want to look into wall mount faucets. If
you have chosen to use this kind of faucet, you should know that you will have to do a little bit of extra
technical work.
First of all, you
should understand that the pipes that feed the faucet hot and cold water need to be installed behind a wall. Wall
mount faucets shoot straight out from the wall behind the bathroom sink. Because of this, the pipes must run
directly behind that wall so you can attach the faucet and handles.
You do not really
need any kind of special setup to use this kind of fixture; you just need to run the pipes a little differently.
Instead of running one straight pipe from the source all the way up to the spout, you will have to use an angled
pipe so that it runs into and through the wall behind the sink. You will then have to fix the pipe to run up that
wall to the height of the spout.
Of course, it is
much easier to install a wall mount faucet when you are installing
the wall at the same time. This would normally be done during new construction or remodeling. However, it is still
possible to set the pipes for this type of faucet through an existing wall. You will just have to cut a few holes
in inconspicuous places to make sure that your pipes are properly set.
There is no doubt
that setting the pipes for wall mount faucets is a bit more technical than it would be for a standard type of
faucet. However, the extra work will pay off in the added beauty that this type of fixture will give your new
bathroom.
