Wall Mount Tub Faucets, Fillers, and Fixtures for your Bathtub

Wall mount tub faucets are mounted on the wall of either the bathtub itself or on the bathroom wall. They are often attached directly on the inside wall of tub. This works well for many styles of traditional modern bathtubs and vintage clawfoot tubs. Wall mount tub faucets are also installed on the actual bathroom wall directly over built in tubs.

Configurations of Wall Mount Tub Faucets

For most tub styles, only the faucet spout and handles are exposed. The rest of the fixture is hidden within the wall and is called a concealed faucet. Fixtures for clawfoot and vintage tub faucets on the other hand are usually exposed and are thus called unconcealed faucets.

Because vintage tubs are free-standing, the plumbing is piped from the floor and the faucet bracing is attached to the tub wall through the pre-drilled holes in the tub.   The faucet is self-supporting and doesn't need brackets attached to the bathroom wall.

Although some kitchen wall mounted faucets look similar to tub faucets, kitchen faucets have a much slower flow rate, making them unsuitable to use as tub fillers. Pipes fittings for kitchen faucets are typically 1/2 inch, compared to 3/4 inch fittings for bathtubs, resulting in a much higher flow rate for filling bathtubs. For this reason it’s important to use a faucet that is specifically designed for tubs.

Wall mount bath tub faucets, also known as tub fillers, are usually selected along with bathroom sink faucets to make up a matching set or ensemble. Generally, the bathroom sink faucets are chosen first, which then narrows down the style and finish of the tub faucet that will match it.

Prices for wall mounted faucets vary greatly, depending on the manufacturer, make, and style.  Prices for inexpensive wall mount fillers begin at about $25 at some retailers and range all the way up to $1000 or more for premium faucets.
